Edo DigiComms convener, Mrs. Gloria Adagbon has urged Nigerian women to champion unity as a means of national development among different ethnic groups in Nigeria.

Mrs. Adagbon gave the advice on Monday in Abuja, in commemoration of Nigeria’s 58th independence anniversary.

She also advised women, as mothers, to always encourage their children to be proactive by appreciating the country’s diversity.

“As Nigeria marks 58th independence anniversary, I urge women as mothers to be the champions of national unity by encouraging our children to be proactive and embrace our diversity.

“We should also continue to pray for a nation bound in peace and unity,” she said.

Mrs. Adagbon warned against any attempt to destroy Nigeria’s democracy by those she described as enemies of the country and charged all Nigerians to be vigilant.

“It is noteworthy that this year’s celebration coincides with activities leading to the 2019 general elections. We call on the political stakeholders to play their roles according to the rules of the game and abide by the wishes of the people. We must learn to shun individual interest-based politics and allow our common overall interest take the upper hand in our collective decisions,” she said.
