… urge the police to take more proactive steps towards arresting the situation of insecurity in Edo State.

Former Deputy Governor of Edo State and frontline Gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of APC has condemned the rising wave of criminal activities in various parts of Edo State.

This comes against the background of the recent kidnap of the Hon Commissioner For Science and Technology Barr. Emmanuel Agbale and killing of his police orderly along Benin Auchi road today 17th April, 2020.

Dr Pius Odubu, who was also the Director of Logistics of President Buhari Campaign Council noted that only last week some criminal elements were reported to have murdered some farmers in Odighi community, Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state with different degrees of violence, robberies and kidnappings in different parts of the state. He lamented that at a time the people of the state were groaning under the heavy yoke of the scare of Corona Virus pandemic with its attendant dislocation of social and economic activities Edo people are facing multiple jeopardy which calls for serious and concerted efforts of security agencies and government to nip these criminalities in the bud.

He therefore call on the Inspector General of Police, Director General of State Security Services and the Army to pay special attention to Edo State while calling on the State government to invest more in protecting lives of citizens and property in the state.

Dr Pius Odubu therefore enjoined the police to fish out these criminal elements with a view to bringing them to justice. According to him ” no efforts should be spared to getting the commissioner released from captivity as the people of the state are now in perpetual fear in the midst of insecurity . The State must not pay lip service to security as the primary purpose of government is the security of lives and property ”

He condemned the incessant killings of farmers and other persons and the rising wave of kidnapping in Edo State.
